Well done to the Bottisham SC JFL team who came SECOND in the C Final on Saturday evening, 17 October. (The first version of this news post said we came third – in fact we took second position jointly with St Neots’ Swans after the spreadsheets had been checked!)
From 44 individual swims, we managed 26 PBs – well done to Ryan, Katie and Faith for getting three each, Nick, Luna and Nina for getting two each, and one each for Ellen, Tom, Joel, Isla, Holly W, Finn, Jack, Caitlin, Ella , Holly R and Findlay.
We also won nine (count ’em!) races in total: Faith won all three of hers, swimming up twice, and Tom won two of his three, swimming up in all and coming a close second in the other race, and all despite feeling horrid with the lurgy; Ellen, Nina, Jacob and Ella were also race winners, entitled to the famous plastic medal from the PB bag. Brilliant work.
And finally, the club records: Ella’s 50 fly was a new club record for a 13-year old girl and Faith’s 50 breaststroke was a new club record for an 11-year-old girl. Woop woop!
I am very very proud of you all, and I know Chris is too. Second in C is a great platform to leap from next year. Thank you particularly to all our 13 year olds who are leaving the JFL: Ellen, Lizzie, Joel, Holly R and Ella. We will miss you, and all the other 13/u swimmers who have joined us this year.
Big thanks to Chris and David for coaching this evening; to Sharon, Cathryn and Mark for door/raffle; to Simon for crowd-control; to Julius for wrangling the spreadsheet which didn’t work properly; to Trish, Luke, David and Gordon for timekeeping; and to Julie for being the most brilliant last-minute announcer I could ever have hoped for (West Where?).
