Autumn gala season is well underway: we’re taking a big team to West Suffolk for the Neate Meet this weekend, and we also have a swimmer competing at the Cambridge Grand Prix. Good luck to everyone swimming.
After that, we’ve got a small contingent going to Corby for the long course meet on 7 October and a great team shaping up for the Junior Fenland League Final at Newmarket on the same evening.
We have a team of 34 going to Newmarket at the beginning of December. The entries are in – the new system worked! If you’d like to join us, paper entries are still open and will be until the middle of November unless the meet fills up beforehand and closes early (which is quite likely).
Those aged 12 and under who haven’t yet said whether they’d like to swim at the CoCSC mini-meet on 21 October, please let us have your entries as soon as possible. We’re also hoping to have another practice novice gala at Newmarket on 4 November – we will keep you informed!
The next meet to open will be the Bottisham Swimming Club Championships 2017, in which all swimmers are encouraged and expected to participate, particularly at the sprints (25/50m fly, 50m free, breast and back, and 100IM – together with the 400m IM just for fun) and celebration evening on Saturday 18 November at Newmarket Leisure Centre. Please put this date in your diary if it’s not there already! We’re aiming to open entries on 1 October and they will be open for the month – Karl will let the swimmers know nearer the time what he expects and would like them to swim.
Finally, the new East Region Long Course qualifying times for the Spring 2018 championships have been released, and you can find them here. The 50m times have dropped by about half a second, while the others remain generally the same as last year.
