Corby Open results

Well done to all 13 swimmers (and parents!) who survived the traffic jam caused by a lorry fire on the A14 and the searing heat poolside at the Corby Long Course Open meet on Saturday.  We had some brilliant results.

Top of the Personal Best tree this week was Phoebe E, in one of her first Open galas, not to mention her first long course meet! Phoebe got 4 excellent PBs, and even finished in a brilliant 6th place in her age group in the 50m backstroke. Well done Phoebe!

Next, with 3 PBs each: George and James B. Both of them were medallists too, see below!

Congratulations to Nick, Yvonne and Luna who all got two PBs each, and to Faith, Mary O and Sasha who each got one. Faith’s PB in the 200m Individual Medley was the only club record this week.

And now to the bling…

Faith got a bronze in her 100m breaststroke; George got a silver in his 50m backstroke; and James B got a gold medal in his first Open swim, the 100m backstroke!

Well done to Sasha, who went home with a silver in the 50m freestyle and a bronze in 50m backstroke.

Despite being a little off the pace in terms of PBs, Anouk continued to pull in the metalware – she got bronze medals in the 200m IM, 100m breaststroke and 50m breaststroke, a silver in her 50m butterfly and a gold in the 100m butterfly.  Well done Anouk!

And finally, great work as usual from Yvonne, who got bronze in 50m free, silver in 50m breast, 100m free and 100m breast, and gold in the 50m backstroke, and so was top medal-winner this weekend. Congratulations Yvonne.

Thanks to Coach Karl for the wisdom, and to Sharon for helping out as team manager.
