Club Champs 5 – Newmarket Sprints Night tonight!

We’ve now made it through four sessions of club champs and you can find a report on the brilliant performances we saw in sessions three and four below.  Now it’s time to turn our attention to our final session: Sprints and Celebration night, which takes place tonight at Newmarket Leisure Centre.  We’re hoping that we’ll be able to celebrate a huge number of PBs, county times, medals and club records, and that we’ll experience an exciting evening of racing!

Warm up starts at 5.30.  We’ll start racing at 6. The schedule  is:
9/u 25m fly
10/over 50m fly
50m freestyle
100m IM
50m breaststroke
50m backstroke
and we finish with the showcase event featuring the club’s top swimmers, the 400m IM.

The full [updated – Saturday] programme is here: BottishamClubChampsS5Programme-20171117.  Please do print it out or download it to your phone or tablet, and bring it along with you if you can as this saves on printing costs.

Helpers, please arrive from 5pm, and swimmers you’ll be welcome poolside from 5.15pm. Raffle prizes welcome, including those recycled from last year 😉

After the racing, we will be totting up the overall points scored by all swimmers for medals attained, and our esteemed referees, Mark Hall and Nigel Seamarks, will present trophies to the overall top three in each age group. Everything could change during the night, and it’s currently tight at the top across a number of different categories!

The evening will finish by 9pm, if not earlier, and club champs will be over for another year.

Finally – now’s a good time to let you know that we’ve got a new assistant coach joining us in the New Year. Ciara Droy is a highly experienced swimming teacher with an impressive swimming background: she got to the Nationals as a teenager in backstroke, freestyle and medley. She’s keen to get back involved with competitive swimming, will be working with Karl across all the squads, and is going to join us poolside on Saturday. We’re thrilled to have her as part of our team.  Please say hello and make her feel welcome.

See you later!
