Cambs County Championships 2018

The County Championships pack is now out.  You can find it here: CASA County Champs Entry Pack 18.

Please note that the first weekend, sessions 1-4, is at Whittlesey on 13/14 January; session 5 is long-distance at Corby on Saturday 20 January; sessions 6 and 7 are at Parkside on Saturday 27 January and sessions 8 and 9 are at Parkside on Saturday 24 February.  This last day includes the 50 free; it also includes the relays, with which we hope many of our swimmers will be involved.  (We’ll send out more information about the relays nearer the time.)

Coach Karl has emailed everyone whom he thinks has qualified for the individual events and you will shortly get an invitation to enter via the SCM system. Trish has kindly volunteered then to prepare the entries.  There will be a quick turnaround, so please watch your inbox 🙂

Club Champs sessions 3 & 4 arrangements

We’re looking forward to seeing parents and swimmers at Bottisham Sports Centre tomorrow and Thursday evening for sessions 3 & 4 of Club Champs 2017. Please have a read of the arrangements from last week here as they’re the same again, with one exception: on Thursday evening we’ve got a really full programme so the warm up will be shortened to about 15 minutes and we will be aiming to start racing at about 7.15pm if we can. Please ensure swimmers are poolside at 7pm prompt on Thursday, ready changed, so we can get going quickly with the 100m breaststroke!

Our referees this week are Mark Hall and Nigel Seamarks. Please make them feel welcome and thank them for helping us out.

As before, for those who aren’t racing please remember there is no normal training or land training at Bottisham this week.

Here are the programmes for Sessions 3 and 4:

Finally, just a reminder that warm up on Saturday at Newmarket for our sprints night is at 5.30pm and we will start racing at 6pm.  Please bring your raffle prizes in as soon as you can!

County Championships 2018: dates

The dates for next year’s County Champs are:

  • Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 January 2018 at Whittlesey (hopefully the new blocks should be in place by then);
  • Saturday 27 January 2018 at Parkside; and
  • Saturday 24 February 2018 at Parkside – this will be the county relays gala, in which we would like as many swimmers as possible to participate next year because they’re brilliant fun!

The programme has not yet quite been finalised but will follow.  The one major change looks likely to be that next year, all 50m and 100m events will have single-age-group finals, rather than the age groups being combined as in previous years.  The 200m events and above will be heat declared winners as before.
