Bottisham Swimming Club Constitution

1.   The name of the Club shall be “Bottisham Swimming Club”.
     The Club colours shall be “Gold on Black”
     The headquarters shall be Bottisham Swimming Pool, Bottisham, Cambs.

2.  The objects of the Club shall be the objects of the Amateur Swimming Association (hereinafter theA.S.A.), in particular the promotion of and instruction in the arts of swimming.

3.  The Club shall be affiliated to the A.S.A. Midland District, Cambs A.S.A. and such other bodies as the Committee may decide.The affairs of the Club shall be conducted in accordance with the laws of the A.S.A. and the members shall conform to Committee instructions. All competing members must be eligible to compete as per A.S.A. Law 101 except those competing in Masters competitions.

4. The Annual General Meeting (hereinafter the A.G.M.) shall be held on a date fixed by the Club Committee before January 31st in each year.
 A Special General Meeting shall be called at the expressed or written request of the majority of the Committee as defined in Clause 5 or within 28 days of the receipt by the Secretary of a written request by a minimum of ten members, such meetings to deal only with the matter of which notice is given in the request.
Each member entitled to vote shall be provided with notice of an Annual General Meeting or Special General Meeting not less than 14 days in advance of the date of the meeting. Such notice shall include an agenda containing all items for discussion.
Additions, deletions or alterations to the constitution shall only be made at a General Meeting and any proposals shall be submitted to the Hon. Secretary 28 days prior to any meeting. Such changes as may be agreed, shall not become operative until approval has been received from the District Hon. Secretary.
The Officers shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting and shall consist of a Chairman, Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer. Such other Committee Members as are considered necessary shall be elected at the A.G.M or subsequently co-opted. The Chief Coach (unless he/she is paid by the Club, in which case see Clause 5), should be a full member of the committee as should at least two other members of the coaching staff. The Committee may, if desired, appoint a President and Vice Presidents, to be ratified at the A.G.M.
An Hon. Auditor shall be elected or a professional auditor appointed at the A.G.M.
The Club’s accounts shall be closed on the 31st August in each year and shall be audited and submitted to the A.G.M.
The Club will consist of Junior Members (under 16 ), Senior Members and Associate Members (these will be Seniors ). Only Senior and Associate Members will be able to vote at General Meetings and to stand for election to the Committee.
The quorum at any General Meeting shall be 10 Senior members and shall include at least one elected officer.

5. The Club shall be managed by the Committee as elected by the Annual General Meeting. The Committee shall meet once in each school term and at such other times as are deemed necessary.
The Committee shall have authority to make regulations within the framework of the constitution and the A.S.A. laws and to deal with any matter not provided for in the constitution and laws.
The Committee shall have power to co-opt and shall have authority to appoint a Special Committee for any purpose, with or without power to act.
If a paid Club Coach is appointed by the Committee he/she will be an ex-officio member of the Committee. A contract specifying his/her terms of employment shall be decided by the Committee prior to his/her appointment.

6. Candidates for membership shall complete the application form which shall, along with the membership fee,be submitted to the Secretary or his/her delegate for acceptance. They must declare existing membership of any other Club affiliated to the A.S.A. The Committee shall have authority to refuse membership at any time. The annualsubscription shall be decided at the A.G.M. and shall be payable before 1st March each year. Qualification for admission to, and fees for Club sessions shall be decided by the Committee.
A member wishing to resign must give written notice to the Hon. Secretary.

7. All funds and other property of the Club shall be applied to the furtherance of the objects of the Club.
No funds or other property of the Club shall be paid to, or distributed among the members of the Club, except as allowed by the A.S.A. law relating to expenses. In the event of dissolution, the assets remaining shall be devoted to objects similar to those of the Club.8. In the event of a member being proven guilty of a breach of the above clauses, misconduct, or acting in a manner liable to bring the Club into disrepute, the Committee, taking into account A.S.A. Law 237 shall have the power to deal with the matter as it deems fit, subject to appeal as provided for in A.S.A. Judicial Laws.
